Mission

U.S. Military Veterans with Parkinson's is established to assist U.S. military Veterans with service-connected Parkinson's disease and other neurological issues.

Goals

  • Assist Veterans with VA claims for service-connected Parkinson's disease;
  • Support the Search for a Cure for Parkinson's Disease;
  • Establish and maintain a WEB presence providing information regarding Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, PD news and research, and government announcements;
  • Promote research investigating any association between Parkinson’s disease and service-connected exposure to chemicals and known toxins;
  • Promote epidemiological studies of PD contributing toward a cure of this disease;
  • Educate the public and Public Officials regarding Veterans with PD;
  • Advocate State and Federal Legislators to support legislation and programs that add or expand Veterans benefits;

The War is Over ...
The Injuries Remain

Picture
In 2007, the VA treated more than 45,000 veterans for Parkinson's disease.  Some sources calculate there are many, many more veterans with neurological issues, a result of their exposure to herbicides in Vietnam.  USMVP helps decision makers develop a better understanding of issues related to Parkinson's disease.  Paramount is the provision of benefits and compensation within a prudent and reasonable period of time.

Now that Parkinson's disease is recognized as an Agent Orange service-connected disease, it is imperative that all eligible Veterans apply for and receive the benefits they have earned.  USMVP will continue to focus on notifying and helping these veterans suffering with Parkinson's.
