2012!
We wish all our members and visitors a healthy and prosperous 2012! We will continue to focus our resources and energy on finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and making certain our Veterans receive all benefits due their situation.
Thank You for Your Donations
Our past work was influential in the recent VA classification of Parkinson's disease as service-related for Vietnam Veterans. Recently, at the 2011 Reunion meeting in Branson, the Directors established a Parkinson's Research Grant Fund. This year we have established a Donations Goal of $2 million for this grant. Our directors are evaluating research project candidates for these grants. A list of these projects will be posted soon. We thank all of you for your generous donations to USMVP research programs. USMVP presently receives no government or corporate donations and is dependent on donations from individuals and organizations. USMVP is a 501(c)19 non-profit organization; your donations qualify as tax deductible.

Parkinson's Disease and Agent Orange
The message is clear: the VA presumes Veterans' Parkinson’s disease as associated with exposure to Agent Orange or other herbicides during military service. The VA's final regulation recognizing this association took effect on August 30, 2010 and rating of claims start on October 31, 2010. Vietnam-era Veterans exposed to herbicides do not have to prove a connection between their Parkinson’s disease and military service to be eligible to receive VA benefits.
With this announcement, USMVP reached its Principal Goal: to get Parkinson's disease added to the VA list of diseases associated to exposure to Agent Orange.
We wish to thank Directors Alan Oates, Lorenzo Gonzalez, and Steve Fiscus for their steadfast dedication, countless hours of research and collaboration, and single-minded campaign to make this happen for all our Veterans afflicted with Parkinson's disease.

New Hope for Parkinson's
Someday doctors may be able to transplant healthy dopamine-producing cells into the brains of people with Parkinson’s disease (PD), replacing cells lost to disease.

The Directors of USMVP send deepest condolences to the family of Jan and Director Alan Oates at the recent loss of Jan's mother, and our special friend, Eleanor Hardway. A truly kind and lovely lady, her home in Arlington has been no less than the Washington DC Liaison Office for USMVP. Eleanor, we will sincerely miss the way you always made us feel welcomed, comfortable, and secure.
Eleanor was a lover of animals, so in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to:
